How it works
This page describes the home navigator, which is rules-based rather than generative. The separate Ask workspace sends your question to an external AI provider after you consent. Either way, every general next step points to an official South Australian source you can open and read.
You choose your role, the tenancy type and the topic, then describe the issue in plain English without personal or confidential information.
Local checks look for obvious patterns such as emails, phone numbers, addresses and codes. They cannot catch everything and are not anonymisation, so keep entries non-identifying.
Matching is done by curated local rules over reviewed topics — mould and damp, hot water, repairs and maintenance, and entry and access. This page describes the curated navigator: it uses no AI model and makes no network call. The Ask workspace is a separate, clearly labelled AI-assisted feature.
If the reviewed sources do not cover the question, or the question is outside South Australian private residential tenancies, the workspace says so instead of guessing.
Each question has short choice buttons and a Not sure option. Answers that matter move a fact from Facts still missing to Facts you have provided. Choosing Not sure leaves the fact missing, because it still is.
The first question always asks about immediate danger. Yes or Not sure interrupts with the emergency message instead of continuing.
Results appear under the question: what was understood, facts provided, facts still missing, general next steps with the sources behind them, where to escalate, and limitations.
Coverage is shown as Supported, Partial or Insufficient. There is no confidence score, because a percentage would imply certainty this tool cannot have.
A short entry path can be Partial when only broad statutory material has been checked for that topic.
The workspace never decides fault, cause, liability, compensation or termination rights, never predicts what SACAT would do, never tells you to issue a notice and never produces a legal form.
You can copy or print a de-identified summary that excludes your question text.
Check dates record when the URL and the source content were last checked. They are not a legal review or approval, and they are not the date the publisher updated the page. Always read the official source before making a decision.
In the curated navigator on the home page, your question, answers and results are held in this page's memory only. They clear when you refresh, navigate away or close the tab, and nothing you type there is saved to this browser's storage, put in the address bar, logged or sent anywhere. The Ask workspace is different: it sends your question to an external AI provider after you consent, and the human-verification check may contact Cloudflare before that.
